  • Oral Surgery

The doctors at Lloyd Family Dental provide all types of oral surgery. They have all been very extensively trained and are highly skilled in performing surgery in even the most challenging cases. They are also trained in all aspects of anesthesia, making sure that our patients are as pain free and comfortable as possible throughout their procedure. Our oral surgeons provide the highest standard of care for every single patient. We are proud to serve people of all ages, from young children to the elderly.

    Sedation and Anesthesia

We provide a wide range of anesthetic options depending on the type of procedure being performed and how nervous you may be. We are able to make you comfortable with sedation or even put you safely under with general anesthesia. Your safety and comfort are our highest priority and every option will be discussed with you in detail prior to treatment.

    Wisdom Teeth

Our third set of molars, which are more commonly called our “wisdom teeth” rarely have enough room to fully emerge into the mouth without crowding other teeth. This can cause severe pain, infection, tumors, and cysts. If they are not removed there can be problems with the proper alignment of your teeth affecting your bite.

Wisdom teeth can be removed safely and comfortably saving you from years of pain and discomfort. Early evaluation and intervention is the key to reducing the risk of complications. Wisdom teeth can often be the cause of gum problems, cavities and even tumors without there being any noticeable symptoms.

    Extraction and Exposure of Teeth

Teeth that are very badly damaged due to trauma or decay may be too difficult to restore and impossible to save and in the end must be removed. Lloyd Family Dental uses the most modern techniques to ensure that this is done safely and as comfortably as possible. Removing wisdom teeth is the most common form of extraction. A tooth can sometimes be in an unusual spot, maybe only discoverable with an x-ray. When this occurs exposing the tooth is necessary to move it to where it belongs. Teeth can even be transplanted from one spot in the mouth to another.

    Dental Implants

For people with a missing tooth or even several missing teeth, dental implants can seem like a miracle. They are a wonderful tooth replacement option, which avoids the frustration of dealing with bridges and dentures. Once in place they maintain normal jaw functioning and look very natural.

If you are missing teeth and are tired of having loose dentures dental implants may be a great option for you. Lloyd Family Dental can coordinate with your primary dentist in determining the best way to move forward to give you the best outcome functionally and cosmetically. If you don’t currently have a primary dentist, we can certainly refer you to a highly qualified one in West Jordan to meet all your dental needs.

    Oral Lesions – Cancer Screening

Most people are not aware that oral cancer occurs more frequently than cervical cancer. It is very easily treated especially when found at an early stage.

You may have noticed or felt something odd inside your mouth. If so you should see your dentist immediately for a complete examination. A tiny piece of tissue from the area should be removed and sent for analysis by a pathologist to determine if this is a benign tumor or cancer. If this is diagnosed and treated early you can avoid major surgical procedures and certainly save your life!

    Corrective Jaw Surgery

If your bite is improper and not fitting together as it should or your jaws are not in the proper position, these can often be corrected with surgery. Lloyd Family Dental in West Jordan has highly skilled oral surgeons who can coordinate with your orthodontist if you are experiencing difficulty chewing, with your speech, jaw pain and even problems with breathing. A complete evaluation can be done that will even address cosmetic issues.
Corrective jaw surgery can give you a proper well functioning bite, eliminate the jaw pain, improve your appearance and help your natural teeth stay healthy longer and hopefully last a lifetime!

    Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery can be the best solution in cases where teeth have been extracted due to the removal of tumors or as a result of facial injuries. When there is not adequate tissue or bone remaining to place dental implants or even place dentures and regain the face’s natural contours, reconstructive surgery may be the best option. Bone and tissue grafts can be done to restore form and function. If you have too much tissue or bone and this is getting in the way of placing dentures, or if you are seeking a cosmetic solution, reconstructive oral surgery can be the answer. Please call Lloyd Family Dental in West Jordan to schedule an initial exam and consultation. We look forward to hearing from you.
